Event ID:2481, The UPS Service Is Not Configured Correctly.
I'm running Win XP Pro, service pact 3. I found this error in my event log.I don't have a UPS, so I'm wondering why I should get this error at all. I checked my UPS settings and no UPS is displayed, all my options are set to NEVER, why am I getting a fatal error, which I am getting. It doesn't shut the computer down, or even tell me, but in the log it says that Windows isn't allowing some things to start because of the error.?

Hi sdsp4651, 1. What can’t be started because of the error? You can try setting the service to disabled to stop the error message.a. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.b. In the list of services, locate Uninterruptible Power Supply.c. Right-Click on the service and scroll to Properties.d. Select the General tab.e. If the service is running stop it by clicking Stop in Service status.f. Directly above in Startup type select Disabled.g. Click Apply and OK and Exit services.msc If the computer is running, it should be fine to ignore the message since it’s not affecting anything. Somehow, I just don't think it is right to ignore error messages, but I suppose you can.The error means that the UPS Service is configured to start Automatically with XP and if you have no UPS configured, the UPS Service is going to complain when it tries to start. You will see an error like this when XP tries to start the UPS Service:ServicesCould not start the Uninterruptible Power Supply service on Local ComputerError: 2481 The UPS Service is not configured correctly. You will also see errors like this in the Event Viewer System log:Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: UPSEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 2481Description:The UPS service is not configured correctly.Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: Service Control ManagerEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 7023The Uninterruptible Power Supply service terminated with the following error:The UPS service is not configured correctly. If you are not using a UPS, you should set the UPS Service to Manual or just Disable it.To do that, click Start, Run and in the box enter:services.mscClick OK to launch the Services applet and locate the Uninterruptible Power Supply Service.Right click the Service, choose Properties and set the Startup type to Manual or Disabled.Click OK to save the changes, close the Services applet and restart the system to be sure there is no error and the changes "stick".Do, or do not. There is no try.I decided to save up points for a new puppy instead of a pony!
