Hi, Have you installed some third-party gadgets recently? This may be caused by incompatible gadgets. First, you could try to perform a clean boot to check how it works. Then try this fixit: How do I restore Windows Sidebar If it fails again, we need to modify the registry again to check the result. Please backup the registry before the modification. Click Start, input regedit in the search box, press Enter to open the Registry Editor. Delete the registry located in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\ Meanwhile, I suggest that you try to create a new account to check what the result is. Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

Thank you for responding Vincent, Yes i like to use the System monitor II and the other gadegts from http://www.myfavoritegadgets.info/index.html and it had installed a search bar add-on and an I.m. even after i had unchecked the box to not install it, as frustrating as that was i had to uninstall those gadgets. I will try the clean boot again i am not very sure how to go about performing a clean boot and the diagnosing after wards but i will try again. I thankyou for suggesting this Mr.fixit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963010 and i have tried that only to find out that that troubleshooter is not for windows 7., Vista only. I will try again deleteing the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\ im not sure i want to create another account. is there a reason that it is suggested? The problem seems to have started after i had installed X-plane 9 and it has no un-installer. X-plane says that all that is need to uninstall X-plane is to delete it. it was installed to the desktop and i didnt want it installed onto my desktop., and so i uninstalled it and than my gadgets went slow and non-responsive. but i also had the Myfavorite gadgets installed at that time so a slight process of elimination.

I just tried deleting the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\ After ending the process tree of sidebar.exe and it went back to being slow and non-responsive. The gallery fades in and out and blinks (not responding).

Hi, I suggest you can try the fixit in the KB to check whether it will work with Windows 7. In addition, you can try the following: 1. Open an Admin Command Prompt window. To open an administrator (elevated) Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. 2. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press ENTER: regsvr32 msxml3.dll 3. Similarly, run these commands: regsvr32 scrrun.dll regsvr32 jscript.dll You should see the DllRegisterServer in <filename> succeeded message for each command executed. 4. Logoff and login back to your user account and see if the Gadgets display correctly. Also, use the System File Checker tool again to check the result. Hope this helps. Thank you for responding vincent, i did what you suggested and: 1: I tried the Mr.Fixit tools ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963010) as suggested and got this message: 2: I opened Command prompt with Admin rights and copy pasted into command prompt: A: regsvr32 msxml3.dll > succeded. B: regsvr32 scrrun.dll > succeded. C: regsvr32 jscript.dll > succeded. Logged off and than back on again and no differance was made. 3: I ran the Sfc /scannow System file checker tool and here is that message:

Hi, can you please try the following, if you haven't tried already. 1. close all the gadgets 2. verify that sidebar.exe is not running(from task manager) 3. take a back up the file, %localappdata%\microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Settings.ini and delete it. 4. start sidebar again and check. This will remove any gadget currently running and you would need to add them again from the gadget gallery.Janaki Hariharan

I have been trying to figure out Debugging and am needing to. I had a few days ago downloaded the Debugging tools from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/hardware/hh852363 and i ended with a crashed computer and started this thread post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/ac6edfe8-d6fe-43cc-a499-3e760b7bf2c1 I had gotten a bunch 0x80000003 Errors and the computer degraded with those errors into a crash. I had to do a system restore and it was a restore pint to where i had installed the debugging tools. so when i got back into a operting system i uninstalled the debugging tools until i figure out how to properly install that and use it. it looks though i am supposed to install windows NT 4.0 but than it is saying to install windows NT 4.5 (SDK) um which is it?

I am curious if re-installing IE9 would fix this, i have had slight difficulty with browsing. the only add on is mcafee. i have had several DNS warnings and errors. The reason i ask this is the correlation to the Registry key.

it has been suggested to me to go into a clean boot environment several times but never what to do once getting into the cleanboot environment and when it has been suggested to perform a clean boot it has to diagnosis to find out what the problem is. i know what the problem is its my gadgets. i keep getting this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 and it says nothing about what to do once in the clean boot environment. I like that it has a video though.

Thankyou for responding Vincent, I have wrote in my Answers fourm; Well the report is that now i have unintentionally created more problems for myself because trying to follow the instruction the best that i could to move the documents Old to Documents new (NOT the copy paste) and i kept getting that i didnt have the admin rights that i had to admin continue or merge and that it couldnt be moved because it was in use. the majority of it did move and i was trying to check through the move and i was surprised that Appdata>temp didnt move and so tried to do so and ran into the problems i described before. and so currently i have the other two accounts and am not sure when i am supposed to delete them. and am using the new account one program didnt start because it said that access is denied. i uninstalled it and reinstalled it. i really hopw that i dont have to reinstall everything. I have done this before and when i did it the last time i ran into crashes because the drive was so messed up that i had to reinstall. hence the reason i have been hesitent to do this. i had to name the old account/profile old and than the one i am using that name i had before and and that created another account/profile and named that temp an have left the guest account on. The instructions are not very clear http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile the good news is though that i am utilizing far less CPU than previously it was stuck around 20% and is now idling around 5%. and the gadgets are working the way they should.

Waking up this morning after creating the new user accounts (three total) i am feeling very unorganized files are scattered and my conifdence in the reliabilty> Performance> and Productivity of the current state of my computer isnt very high. I fully realize this is of my own doing and am humbly asking for help. aside from what x-plane claims that all a person needs to do to uninstall xplane is just delete the folder from the desktop and so here we are. after trying to transfer (hmm windows easy transfer) files from the old account i found more xplane files. I am not wanting to delete the other user accounts until i am fully confident that this high performance Personal computer is performing to its full potential. when i have done this in the past from what i remember i deleted that other account and ran into the wall of one Admin account and kept getting access denied errors and the computer degraded from there. the reason i have hesitent to do this.

Hi, For the new account issue you report, please understand that we usually focus on only one issue in one thread, because this behavior will help other community members more conveniently find and participate the discussion. In addition, I found you have already post a new thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/ecb9e856-a456-42cb-9685-ac12430e43df/#e31c2d8f-04a5-4b0c-a33f-6cf2b158867c, so I recommend to keep working with that thread to avoid confusion. Thank you for your understanding. Regards Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

I understand vincent, the thing i have been running into to is that there is correlation of Errors. when the computer errors out or there is a critical there is more than one thing going on because of dependance. if a service fails because of something other than the service its self than the search for what is affecting the service is the dependencies. Example: The example of what i am posting of this screen shot is the fact that in servies it says "Any services that expicitly depend on it will fail to start. And so i am trying to tie up the loose ends within the heirachy of dependencies. one error or critical i know does not mean one thing. process of elimination. I absolutely agree of eliminating confusion and so I and we are working on it right?

I always thought that the Operating system held Hierachy over third party software? or i always thought the operating system trumps software other than the operating system.
