A LAN card will cost you next-to-nothing, look in your local computer store or even, Ebay. Just make sure it’s not too old and comes with a driver CD.

But, is not a controller a part of network interface card, either independent or integrated one ? Poutnik The best depends on how the best is defined.

Hi Network Card and Network Interface Controller (NIC) is different names to the same thing. Make sure that the Card (Controller) is Switch On in the Motherboard BIOS. Look at the OS Device Manger and make sure that there is No Ghost Entry, if there is one, delete it. http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#ghost Be ready with the Card's (Controller) drivers. Reboot and install. If done correctly it will look this way in the Device Manager. http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_dm.jpg Jack, MVP-Networking. EZLAN.NET
