Ethernet adapter found in System Information but not detected in Device Manager, cannot install driver
I recently downgraded by Toshiba NB305 from Windows 7 to Windows XP. The netbook has a PCIe ethernet adapter that Toshiba has XP drivers for. After finishing up installing XP I cannot install the drivers for the adapter. The adapter turns up in System Information
as such:
Name [00000012] Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Adapter Type Not Available
Product Type Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Installed Yes
PNP Device ID Not Available
Last Reset 5/2/2010 11:59 AM
Index 12
Service Name RTLE8023xp
IP Address Not Available
IP Subnet Not Available
Default IP Gateway Not Available
DHCP Enabled Yes
DHCP Server Not Available
DHCP Lease Expires Not Available
DHCP Lease Obtained Not Available
MAC Address Not Available
So it seems that XP knows it is there. However, when I go into device manager there is no adapter or unknown device! Also, sometimes when I log in for the first time, the ethernet adapter automatically installs a new driver and even appears in the tray,
but a few seconds later the icon disappears and the adapter is once again not detected. Please help!1 person needs an answerI do too

What happens when you install the drivers for XP from Toshiba's website? You need to install the drivers in order to see it in Device Manager.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
