Errors Backing up Windows 7 to a NAS
I have been trying to back up my W7 machiene to a NAS. The divice itself has no password. When W7 Backup requests a id/pswd I give it the login for the desktop. The login has administrative priviledges on the computer. I get the error code 0x800704B3 back. When I disable the firewall and MS Sec. Essentials. I get the code 0x800708CA. I have changed the Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level from "Send NTLMv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" In all instances I cannot get past this window. That is selecting a network divice to backup to. I am on a LAN with the server running Windows Server 2003. The NAS has a static IP address. I have successfully maped the drive and copied files to and from it. How can I make this NAS my backup divice? I have searched online and am now frustrated. Does anyone know how to make this work?

Hi Stephen, How about the backup on anther Windows 7 client? Can it backup successfully on a NAS? Can you backup locally? Based on the methods you tried, there’s no clue to find the cause. I recommend you use the Process Monitor to check what happened when you try to backup.
