Errors 815 Help
Hi Can anyone Help I have recently changed Broadband providers from Tiscali to Sky My Tiscali was fine using a Linksys router. Since changing to Sky and using theNetgear router provided and Sky tellingus that we need to use it we have had lots of problems and these messages. *Live update engine COM module has stopped working *Dial up connection box *Internet explorer is not working *Connecting through WAN Miniport PPPOE *Error 815 We keep loosing connection Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to sort it out. Error 815 is an authentication error to the server. It means that your ISP server is not responding. I suggest that we boot in Safe Mode with Networking and check if the issue is cause by any third party programs. 1. Reboot the computer. 2. When the Starting Windows screen shows, press F8. 3. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter. 4. Log on. If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, please back to Normal Mode, and temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall. If the issue does not occur, check the settings in the security programs. However, if the Internet connection still does not work in Safe Mode, the probable causes are that you have not set up your connection properly. Please check with your ISP to make sure you have all the software, computer network settings and router settings needed in order to connect. If you know how to configure the router to connect to the ISP, you may also try your old Linksys router as a test. Hope it helps.
