Error when trying to compress files
I run Windows 7 Ultimate N on a Dell XPSM1330 laptop. I have just started to get an error message when I try to send files to a compressed folder. The error says 'Compressed Files Error' Unable to complete operation, Access is denied. There is no error code. The only solutions suggested online are for Windows XP. I am the only user of this laptop and have full admin access - I need to send out materials which are very large and need a fix for this please!

This issue occurs if you do not have permission to write a file in the current folder. How does it work if you copy to Desktop and choose to compress the file?Arthur Xie - MSFT

I wonder if installing 7-Zip would allow you to do this? It's free and easy to use. You hi-lite the files you want to compress, right click, point to 7-ZIP and select the option you want to perform. Also, look in Event Viewer, see if there are any errors recorded there that may help understand what is happening.Rich Why can't I be different and original like everybody else? - Vivian Stanshal

Are you trying to manually zip files or zip via a program?Arthur Xie - MSFT

I am trying to use the option that appears when you right click over the file/files you want to compress - Send To/Compressed (Zipped) Folder.
