I run Windows 7 Ultimate N on a Dell XPSM1330 laptop. I have just started to get an error message when I try to send files to a compressed folder. The error says 'Compressed Files Error' Unable to complete operation, Access is denied. There is no error code. The only solutions suggested online are for Windows XP. I am the only user of this laptop and have full admin access - I need to send out materials which are very large and need a fix for this please!

This issue occurs if you do not have permission to write a file in the current folder. How does it work if you copy to Desktop and choose to compress the file?Arthur Xie - MSFT

I get the same error if I try to compress a file located on the desktop.

I wonder if installing 7-Zip would allow you to do this? It's free and easy to use. You hi-lite the files you want to compress, right click, point to 7-ZIP and select the option you want to perform. I am trying to use the option that appears when you right click over the file/files you want to compress - Send To/Compressed (Zipped) Folder.
