Error when starting Windows Live Messenger
I am getting following error when starting Windows Live Messenger. I have tried to re-install Windows Live services etc..but nothing seems to help. If I just click OK and continue, Messenger works and I can use it,but this error message is quite annoying
and obvisouly something is wrong. How this could be fixed?
msnmgr.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point msvfw32_.ICSeqCompressFrameEnd could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVFW32.dll
I am using Windows 7 with all the correction released installed.

Try to fix the problem by this steps:
1- download (Windows Install Clean UP ) and remove all files for Windows live messeneger , you can download it from
here or
here
2- download ( ATF-Cleaner ) program and clean all files you can download it from
here
3 - download the fresh file from msn live messnger from the web at http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger and install it
4 - make sure the time zone is set correctly.

Hi,
Does this issue occur before? If not, you could try system restore to get back to a previous status to check how it works.
If this issue persists, I suggest you try to use SFC to check your system:
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on
Windows 7
Meanwhile, it is also recommended to post at Windows Live solution center for further help:

Hope it helps.

Moi,
This problem has been there "always". I mean that I have had this Messenger start-up problem from the beginning. None of the above helps, problem is still there.

Hi,
Thanks for update.
To resolve this issue, try to replace the
MSVFW32.dll file with a known good copy of the file:
1.
At an elevated command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
takeown /f Path_And_File_Name
For example, type
takeown /f E:\windows\system32\MSVFW32.dll.
2.
Type the following command, and then press ENTER to grant administrators full access to the file:
icacls Path_And_File_Name /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F
For example, type
icacls E:\windows\system32\MSVFW32.dll /grant administrators:F.
3.
Type the following command to replace the file with a known good copy of the file:
Copy Path_And_File_Name_Of_Source_File Path_And_File_Name_Of_Destination
For example, type
copy E:\temp\MSVFW32.dll E:\windows\system32\MSVFW32.dll.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
You can get a known good copy file from another good windows 7 system.
At the meantime, as I said, regarding this issue is related to the Windows Live Messenger, and we have corresponding forum to be dedicated to dealing with Windows
Live Messenger issues, they should be able to better address the issue and secure a solution:
