Error using Windows 7 to burn any ISO
I am having issues burning ISO files to my DVD. In Vista, burning was perfect. In Windows7 RC/RTM, it has not worked at all. I can burn any other type of DVD-CD, data, disk to disk copy, etcONLY the ISO creation fails. I have used the same ISO files on a Vista machine, and they work, I have tried with no less than 8 different ISO images, and they all fail with "The disc image didn't burn successfully because an error occurred. The write failed because the drive returned error information that could not be recovered from (error code 0x0c0aa0301)". In the event log, Error 51 "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation." This same error occurs after installing ROxio and although every other burn attempt succeeds, the ISO burn fails every time. I've seen the other posts, and they seeem similar, but not the same. I tried the registry deletion, and it does not effect a change.

Thanks. I know there are 3rd party apps to burn ISO files, as I experienced the same results with one already, so I believe it is OS or hardware related. I expected that Windows 7 would handle it properly, and am hoping that someone else has seen this issue and figured out the fix for it. I am deploying Windows 7 to my company, and want to be sure Windows 7 provides all that has been advertised before I deploy it to a hundred machines. Windows 7 does not provide a speed regulation in it's very basic ISO burning operation.Additional software should not be needed for this function. On my test HP 8510w, the ISO burns properly, so I believe this is limited to the 2710p model, but HP isn't supporting Windows 7 until the end of this month, and closes the cases I create for Windows 7 without resolution. (nice). It could be firmware upgrade needed (can't find the correct file), could be driver related (can't find a newerdriver), or could be Windows 7 related. I figure if it is Windows 7 related, this is the place to ask. :) Thanks for the input! I've used imgburn and love it, I just don't want to add apps to my image that I don't (or shouldn't) need.

According to this the error did not reoccur when he switched to a differrent brand of media. http://blog.kirb.us/This next article says it may occur if the media has beanprepaired for file storage by the Windows 7 progrm that appears when clicking on the drive icon with blank media and that you should useunprepairedmedia. Windows 7 makes an offer "Prepair this blank disk" when you click on a drive with a blank disk and gives you a choice of two ways to prepair it, but both of these may interfere with iso burningso you may want to format the disk with a third party program likeIMGBURN, Nero, etc. to remove the attributes given to the disk from theWindows 7 preperation. http://www.windowsvalley.com/blog/fix-the-disc-didnt-burn-successfully-because-an-error-occurred-on-windows-disc-image-burner-error-code-0x80004005/

Horshack, actually my error is "0x0c0aa0301" the error in yourlink is "0x80004005". I'm using unformatted blank media. I'll keep this link in mind for other issues that may appear, tho. Thanks!Ronnie, thank you for the link. Very neat!

Same here, no info was found on that error code. I fixed the issue by reinstalling Windows 7. Not the best solution, but I needed to reinstall to make a base image of it to deploy tomy domainanyway. Thank you for the input!

Great news to hear it's working for you. Final thought. In the futurerather than reinstalling the whole shabang, you cantry usingsystem restore or making a computerimage backup which could save a good deal of time.

Yes, I tried a system restore, but it didn't do the trick. It did uninstall some of the installed apps, though:).I needed a clean image to deploy anyway, and my installation was only a month old, so it didn't hurt much. The reinstallation also cleared up a video driver issue I was having, too. I found the first 2710p videodriver that Windows 7 installs is more stable than any of the newer drivers that are available, so my external screen now works properly. Strange, but happy it is now always recognizing the external monitor. :)

I get inconsistent burns. I had 2 successful burns, same media, then 4 straight issues with 0x80004005 errors. I used the exact same media. When using imgburn I was getting some synch/memory issues - on two different drives that used to work. Oddly enough, when I put the disks into the system they seem to playback. I don't know if these really don't play properly or this is a false error.
