Error uploading .doc or .xls to WebDAV server
When attempting to copy a Word 2003 .doc file or Excel 2003 .xls file to our Server 2003 WebDAV site from either Windows Vista or Windows 7, we get an error: Copy File: Cannot read from the source file or disk Copying the same file from a Windows XP machine works just fine. Deleting some content from the header of the file works around the problem. Saving the file as a .docx works around the problem. Unfortunately, none of these solutions are adequate for a real-world user environment. This problem has been reported elsewhere with no solution posted: Vistaheads How can we correct this problem?

We've found some additional information. If the .doc and .xls files are copied using the command-line, the files copy just fine. They only seem to fail if one is using Explorer or Microsoft Office to copy/save the files to the WebDAV folder.

We have found a bit more information. If one puts a .doc or .xls file in a zip file, uploads that to the webdav server, and then extracts that file to the webdav share, that also works successfully. So, the tally is: save with Explorer - fails save with Word/Excel - fails extract from Zip using Explorer zip support - works copy using command-line - works

Jason: Not sure if this will help but Excel & Word would not save to the network. I resolved mine by removing KB980232, it was loaded some time last week. Hope this help. Larry

Larry, thanks for the tip. That patch is not relevant to our situation. We are able to save documents from Word/Excel just fine over SMB. Instead, the documents fail to save or copy to a WebDAV target.

I'm reporting the same issue from a Windows 7 (and previous Vista installation) to our company's WebDAV server (2003, but not sure). Any fixes yet?
