Can you provide some details about the blue screen - what does it say? What are any numbers that may be displayed? Have you tried the "Last Known Good Configuration" or System Restore?

When did this behavior start? Did you recently add any hardware or software? Do you have access to the files on the system in some way (Bart boot disc, etc.), such that you could gain access to the crash dumps in the folder c:\windows\minidump?

It started when support from Sysmanec took over the computer when downloading Norton recommended by Comcast.

Do you know if they installed any software? Were you trying to install Norton on the system, and had problems, and that prompted you to contact Symantec support? Do you have access to the files on the system in some way (Bart boot disc, etc.), such that you could gain access to the crash dumps in the folder c:\windows\minidump?

If you can't get safe mode to boot, and you can't use system restore with success, a repair installation of Windows XP may be in order. How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP
