Error message states that my system's virtual memory is too low.
Hello, I have increased the paging files minimum and maximum values as suggested by various help sources and my computer seems to be running a bit faster, but negligibly so. I also gather that moreRAM will help, however, I have the maximum RAM my laptop can take internally (256MB). Is there such a thing asexternal RAM that I can get to increase my RAM? I am working withWindows XP Home Edition and I understand that I need a minimum of 256MB ofRAM for my virtual memory to be ok. On checking my system'sRAM I see that I have 256MB of RAM (physical memory), however, only about 10MB ofRAM (physical memory) is available for use (I obtained this information from theSystem Information tool). I'm not sure what this means. Should I have 256MB ofRAM available for use for my virtual memory to be ok? My computer's hard drive is 20GB but I have about 0.6GB of free space left, so I am thinking of getting anexternal hard drive so as to have more space. Can getting an external hard drive increase my RAM? Any helpmuch appreciated. Tony.

This is a Vista support group, and the advice we would give you regarding memory and enhancements won't work in Windows XP. You really need to post this message in a Windows XP support group for the proper support."Anthony Dean" wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...Hello, I have increased the paging files minimum and maximum values as suggested by various help sources and my computer seems to be running a bit faster, but negligibly so.
