I have Windows 7. There is only one account -- the administrator account. It has no password. I tried to add a password to the and got the following error message -- "Windows cannot change the password." I tried the methods described in the Answers.Microsoft.com forums: 1) control + alt + Delete; 2) "Computer Management > Local Users and Groups" doesn't appear; 3) Command prompt "net <user name> /Passwordchg:yes" None of these worked. But the Adminstrator does not list Local Users and Groups. To better understand this problem, the laptop was bought from a floor display at Best Buy. Is there a program that prevents me from changing the password, or do I have to add something to the system manually? I had to add a Public for the Users in ProfileList manually because it was missing in the regedit and prevented me from installing software.
