Error Message: NTLDR, can't reinstall OS for some reason?
I have a Sony desktop computer that sped up an error message and I've tried everything. The error message is: NTLDR and I've tried just about everything; restoring the original Sony VAIO CDs and it wouldn't accept them, I installed my Windows XP Professional Upgrade CD but it didn't want to take it. The CD-ROM works fine, the system BIOS have been put back to their original settings, I've tried Linux and it started to accept that operating system but I still received an error...I'm open to any and all suggestions as I'm pretty desperate now!Thank you VERY MUCH!BruceI was in a motor vehicle accident in 1985 to where I only broke two months, my C4 and C-5 vertebrae. The accident left me paralyzed from the mid-chest area down but I learned shortly thereafter; life is what you make of it whether you can walk, talk, see or stand. HiSound to me like there is a hardware problem.Seems to me that the hard drive is not functioning.Try a boot partiton application, and see if it can read and check the hard drive.Acronis Disk Director is an example for such an application. Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

Thank you, is that disk/program available most anywhere or is it a download? Please excuse my ignorance but when my computer goes south, I'm completely lost, to put it lightly. Could it also be something like the hard drive from the being plugged in correctly (ribbon cord/plug wrong) or even the jumpers because I was using it in an exterior hard drive case but I don't recall changing the jumper settings. Thank you again. BruceI was in a motor vehicle accident in 1985 to where I only broke two months, my C4 and C-5 vertebrae. HiYou can see it here, http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/index.htmlThere is free trial, but I am not sure that the free trial allows to create Boot disk. This is less sophisticate program but it is free, http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html ----------------------My posts reflect my understanding and experience. Hi,I've made some fantastic progress but it came by installing "ubuntu 5.046", a free installation CD that had been sitting around my house for the past ??? of years and I'm glad I never tossed it. That tells me the hard drive is working properly and that the problem could be an error in my Sony VAIO restoration DVDs/CDs and that worries me. The computer came with Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 and I really liked it. If perhaps there is a problem with my restoration CDs, is that something that still available or am I up a creek without a paddle? The ideal OS I'd love to have loaded on this computer and my laptop would be Windows 7. My Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice dictation program never crashes wallets on that operating system but it does much more often on Windows XP Professional. As I'm sure I'm not the only person who's unable to click start or even press Control Escape to restart their Dragon NaturallySpeaking program, it just seems so much at home with Windows 7. What I'd do for a version of Windows 7 at a price I can afford but I wouldn't want to be laughed at by the folks at Microsoft! Do you think Microsoft would accept a long-term payment agreement :-) ?Anyways, after last night's progress I feel as if I've hit the bull's-eye three times in a row and I have three more bullets to fire. If you have any ideas why my backup disks might be having problems loading, I'm all ears...as always -- they are clean and everything. Thank you again, I hope you know I appreciate all your help and ideas that you're giving me, I'd be lost without it. 544444I was in a motor vehicle accident in 1985 to where I only broke two months, my C4 and C-5 vertebrae.
