When I attempt to delete a shared mailbox from the Exchange Admin Center, I get the following error message:

The following error occurred during validation in agent 'Windows LiveId Agent': 'Unable to perform the save operation. 'ELOcouncil' is not within a valid server write scope.'

We are on a hybrid On Premise/Cloud setup.  Any ideas?

I suggest to open a support case in the admin center so solve this issue.

In case someone else runs across this post from Google as I did, you have to delete the account from the on premise Exchange/Active Directory and Sync the changes with DirSync(or the new tool, can't remember the name) to Office 365/Azure AD.
