Error Code: 403 Forbidden

Hi,

I'm new to microsoft products, so hopefully I can get my point across meaningfully.

I'm trying to connect to a site internally through forefront/tmg and recieve this message:

Error Code: 403 Forbidden. The server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202)

I assume I'm getting to the site, but appears to be some sort of rights issue as to why I can't see the content.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this and steps to take?

Can you tell me exactly the way you have set it up ? OR what exactly are we trying to achieve?

If you are trying to publish a website through TMG, the address you (be it IP or NETBIOS or DNS name) HAS to match Entry in "Public Name" tab of the corresponding rule.

Here are some step by step walk thrus.

IF still doesn't work, please add some more info about your setup and include some screenshots, will be happy to help! :)

Yes. trying to publish a website through TMG.

Had look at the isaserver.org and actually did follow this in setting it up.

I can bypass TMG and go directly to it, so there is some config issue in TMG.............

The website does match the public name.......what screen shots were you after specifically?

I understand your point now.

Also can you please confirm what do you have in the paths tab? do you have something like /* ??

Or how is that? Does your URL include any virtual directories? like https://contoso.com/OWA/default.aspx?

if Yes, make sure you have /OWA/* or /*in paths tab - which will allow access to that directory.

In live logging you can setup filter to see traffic only from your client IP, and share the screenshot.

So that I can see the complete url and reason it got denied?

Are you able to access http://i1376.photobucket.com ?

Does that comes up fine?

Also, can you please give us some more information that you see in LiveLogging preferrably a screenshot showing the address you typed. Reason for failure.

May be the way you have setup rules.

Hi,

Anything updates?

If the issue persist, would you please share more detailed information about your deployment? Is it in a domain? Which kind of authentication you have configured for web listener?

In addition, according to your figure, it seems that the packet was dropped. I recommend you to capture packets via Network Monitor to better analyze this issue.

Best regards,

Susie
