I have tried to fix my computer for three weeks. I lost about $200.00 to "free support". I have a four month old computer. It came with windows home premium. I pretty much live on it. Problem is as follows. I cannot update automatic installations from Microsoft.The error code is: 8024002D. I went to device manager and it says: the device, Megawin USB_UART Bridge controller is reporting "tv_ConfigMgrErr31" This device will not be available until the issue is resolved. The plug and Play ID for this device is USB\VID_OE6A-PID_0101\5-38612C99-02. Anybody...help? Mammananny

Which update is not installed, or Windows Update reports the error code when you try to scan for updates? I suggest that you rename the Windows Update temporary folder in Safe Mode. Restart computer, press the F8 key when the boot menu pops up, you can start the computer in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, please open the folder C:\Windows, find the folder SoftwareDistribution, rename it to SD. Then please restart, and temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall. Please try to update again. Regarding the USB to UART Bridge Controller error, it will be received if the driver of this device is not installed. If it is a retailed device, please find if there is any driver disc comes with the device. If no driver is available, please contact the device manufacturer and confirm if the device is compatible with Windows Vista. Otherwise, if the computer is from manufacturer and the device is built in the computer by the manufacturer, please find the driver from the manufacturer driver disc. If the issue reoccurs, please contact the computer manufacturer and confirm that whether they have any Windows Vista compatible drivers.
