Error 815 - can't connect to the internet
A friend gave me their old laptop.
It can't connect to the internet.
I get "Error 815"
If necessary, here are the specs:
HP Pavilion dv6700 (specifically dv6736nr)
Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 Bit
AMD Turion 64x2 (TL-60, 2 GHz)
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Storage: 220 GB
I'd like to do a clean install of Vista, but it didn't come with any OS discs and I will NOT spend any money buying the discs, so I'm forced to find the solutions by manually fixing everything myself. I used my other laptop to download a bunch of malware
utilities (SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, Combofix, MGtools, etc) as well as cCleaner to find/delete any virus. I also installed Avast anti-virus software and so far the machine is clean from malware. I think some DLL's or some other OS system files got deleted,
thus the reason for not being able to connect to the internet. I need help though.
I went into the Device Manager and tried to uninstall the WAN Miniport pppoe, but I'm not sure if I was successful or not.
Can someone help me?
