Error 80242016 when installing Windows vista Sevice pack 1 for 32bit system

I have tried reinstalling several times now and it fails every time. I have tried following the renaming directory folders and such and they always tell me to run command "net stop WuAuServ" Well since a while back my command prompt doesn't recognize even the most simple of commands.. I was kind of hoping that SP1 and Windows 7 could help em with this problem but of course i cant even get them working.

Hi Coreydl,You can try thesesteps to install SP1on the Computer.1. Uninstall Antivirus programs(if any) installed on your Computer if you have a resource to reinstall it back. 2. If you do not have a resource to reinstall the anti-virus, disable all third party services and startup items to avoid conflict during the SP1 installation by following the steps below.Click on start -> Type in msconfig(in start search box) -> Hit enter -> Choose Services tab -> Check Hide all Microsoft services checkbox -> Disable all -> Choose Startup tab -> Disable all -> Apply -> Ok -> Exit without restart. 3. Type in the following commands one by one and hit enter: net stop wuauserv net stop bits cd c:\Windows ren softwaredistribution sd cd c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network rename Downloader Downloader.old net start wuauserv net start bits4. Exit the command prompt, download System update readiness tool appropriate for the edition of Vista you have (32-bit or 64-bit) from the following link and run it. (NOTE: Please note that it could take around 30 minutes for the Readiness tool to run. Wait until you get a message saying that the installation is complete)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/9478215. Your computer might restart multiple times and the screen might flicker.h.Go through the on-screen instructions at the end of the installation.Hope this helps!
