One of the computers in my network started having writing issues when i upgraded it to Office 2010. I am running Small Business Server 2008 and have the Redirect Folders option enabled and this machine is running Windows 7 Pro. Everything worked fine with the redirected folders before installing Office 2010 so that's why i think that might have had something to do with it, even though upgrading Office doesnt seem like something that should cause this. Now whenever the user tries to save anything or make changes to anything in the redirected My Documents folder it gives the error: Error 0x8007054E: Unable to complete the requested operation because of either a catastrophic media failure or a data structure corruption on the disk. I can go in and delete things or change things in that folder on the server with no problem, it only gives that error from his workstation. i tried resetting all the sharing and security privileges to make sure that wasnt it and the same thing happens. All updates are installed on the workstation. i have multiple other workstations with the same user credentials, running the same operating system with the same redirected folders and the same Office version upgraded at the same time and they all run fine. Any suggestions?

Hi, Based on my research, error 0x8007054E seems to be mainly caused by SQL Database corruption and you can’t make any changes in index folder. Does the issue occur with other redirected folder or local folder? Please save the file or make changes to other folders to see if the issue appears. Maybe you could try to modify index options to exclude My documents folder or try rebuilding the index. Thanks Dale! It only happens in one redirected folder and all it's sub-folders, the My Documents folder. The Desktop folder and all others have no problem saving and they are all redirected. It doesn't occur with any local folder, mapped drive, network folder or other redirected folder, only the My Documents. I saw in my research as well that it is typically a SQL issue but I didn't see how SQL would be involved here since we don't run any SQL databases on this server at all and it doesn't function as a SQL server. It's not just Office either because it won't let us delete anything from that folder or move anything from that folder, it returns the same error. I can move and delete things from the server and from my computer which has Administrative rights over all of his folders. It just started happening too, it functioned fine until now. I'll give the indexing thing a shot, maybe that will work. Thanks for the help, this is kind of a weird one i know, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Chris

Maybe you need to delete the user profile folder and re-create one to apply the redirected My Documents folder.
