Error 0x80070425 and inability to access the shared foiders from Windows home Server
Hello I am struggling with the Credential Manager in Windows 7. First of all there's a 0x80070425 error when trying to access it. The solutions I found to sole this bug (disable credential manager in services .msc then reboot then set back to manual) don't solve anything. Second, the credential manager simply doesn't remember my credentials. I connect my PC to another PC with Windows Home Server. i can log to my server through remote desktop or the WHS console, but I can't access the sahred folders from an explorer, and this is extremely annoying, since the server is precisely there to make those shared folders available... How can i solve this please? Thank you

Hi, Since there are two different issues on the machine, to avoid confusion, let's focus on the first issue at this time. Regarding the network sharing issue, please create a new thread in Windows 7 Networking Forum. To troubleshoot the Credential Manager issue, please use System File Checker (SFC) to verify whether any system file is corrupted. 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. 2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all system files and recover the corrupted ones. After that, please verify the Credential Manager service and test the issue again. Thanks, Novak

I am having the same problem. Performing "SFC /scannow" reports no integrity violations, but I re-booted nonetheless and tried opening Credential Manager - same error still exists. Yet when I continue after the error, or close Credential Manager and restart Credential Manager, it starts and runs without error. This appears to be a one-shot failure of Credential Manager Service to start. Something is preventing the Service from starting the very first time after a system reboot. On other forums I've read suggestions to change the Credential Manager service to start automatically, but I don't know if that is a good practice from a security or system resource perspective. Any further suggestions?
