Hi, I am trying to copy a file(VHD) of 25GB from external harddrive to my local computer but this copy gets failed with following error I have tried same thing on two laptops with Windows 7. Error 0x80070079: The semaphore timout period has expired. I disabled firewall,Antivirus but still same problem persists.Any comments from any one please...? Many thanks, Ameen. Mohammad Ameenuddin

You almost certainly have a hardware issue with your external drive, i.e. it's in the process of failing.I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

Thanks Ken, But I am able to copy other files from the same drive and even this VHD works perfect when I boot into virtual machine using Microsoft virtual PC software.Yesterday night even I tried tool called teracopy same result.If I try using powershell do you think it will make a difference...?Mohammad Ameenuddin
