Error 0x80070005 when trying to remove any program from startup
Hello, When I try to remove any program from the startup list using Windows Defender's Program Explorer or any other maintenance utility, I get the following error: The Microsoft Windows Software Explorer returned an error: 0x80070005. Access is denied. Could you please help me solve this problem? I have cleaned my registry, defragmented the registry, ... but I still have this error. Thank you in advance for your help!

I have the exact same problem regarding Software Explorer on Windows Vista. I wanted to disable a program from my currently running programs list in Software Explorer. Intially it shows currently running programs. But when you want to see the programs for all users, or basically want torun as administrator, it shows this error. This is not an old problem. It just started a few days ago. Please provide some support on this.

Click Start and type MSCONFIG from the Start Search box then press ENTER. Select Tools tab and scroll down till you find "Disable UAP/UAC". Click on that line. Press the Launch button. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window. Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.
