Error - Cannot open volume for direct access at Windows startup.
Changed Title: XP Disk ChecK failure?I tried running check disk numurace and attempts. I ran it from safe mode Dos answered Y Yes for check disk to run on next start up, to no avail/ Ialso tried to run disk check from Windows OS My Computer/right click drive C: check disk. Still not working? Please Help? When I restart my computer the messgae I get is " Can not open volume for direct access" Thank You,FavoriteEmail removed for privacy

Hi,· Did you make any software or hardware changes on your machine prior to this issue?· Which version of Service Pack is installed on your machine?Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.Method 1If you have scheduled chkdsk utility to run at startup, you may get this error message at startup.You may follow this link and check if it helps."Cannot Open Volume for Direct Access" error message when Chkdsk runs at startupMethod 2You may run chkdsk from Recovery Console and check if the issue persists.At the Recovery Console command prompt, types the following then press Enter: chkdsk [/p] : [/r]Note: At first, try to run chkdsk /p & check if it helps.
