Enter System Audit Mode fails on Windows 8 an HP 8770w laptop

When using sysprep with " Enter System Audit Mode" in a windows 8 installation. the laptop restarts and ends up in a loop.

The message during start-up is "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

After that, the installation restarts. I'm using a HP8770w laptop.

Can anyone help me with this. thanks for your reply.

Hi,

Please check the value of the following registry item. It should be IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State

If others run into this issue, this is what helped me:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-could-not-complete-the-installation-to/bf09c3c5-298b-459f-aed5-4f431b8398f5

The image was affected by a GPO that disabled the administrator account.  Re-enabling the account by pressing shift+F10, for a command prompt, then opening an MMC to get to computer management to re-enable the account resolved our issues.
