Endless CHDSK WIN 7 Ult. 64 Bit
I have a New laptop 6months old, I had Vista Home Premium 64Bit, which I updated to Ultimate. This system was such a Turkey, I rarely used it. Slow obnoctious and full of quirks (SP2, Did help somewhat) I installed 8GB Memory and upped the Processor from 2.4 to 3.06. This ran better than most of the other ones, I could compare too (College Student, again), but,was only a faster Turkey, I installed the RTM Win 7, ran great until about the 3rd time I did a CHKDSK. Then it went into endless CHKDSKs, I wrote Forums, never did get a solid Answer. I was able to reinstall Vista Ult. Would not install backup files, Previous Vista or Win 7 (Use Seagate 1.5TB external HD, Backed up using Both Windows Program and Seagate's). Lost everything, so started over again, Vista ran like before (Real Junk) I have now Installed Win 7 Ult. (Upgrade, went flawless), run it a couple weeks, no problems. Did a couple CHKDSKs went fine. I now have the same Problem (Stuck in endless CHKDSK, wont stop, even pressing any key on Start-up, freezes at 1 second)Rebooted and Tried Recovery, still in the CHKDSK mode afterwards. I ran all the Diagnostics, No error messages. I did not find a answer the last time and am back again with same problem. Maybe should downgrade to XP for a couple years, until this is worked out. I would like a New Desktop, so trying to work thru this before investing anymore $.

Persistence Pays.... This worked for me, The endless CHKDSK, I was finally able to break this cycle. I left the "Door" open on the DVD (HD) and Rebooted (Removed Bat. Held down Power, restart Bat. only) and was able to get into start-up. I used "Restore to last known.." I was going to try and Boot from DVD, but, this worked instead. (I had tryed many times/hours). Fluke or not, I am impressed. Several Start-ups... Flawless. Second time issues with CHKDSK... I don't Recommend using until this "Bug" is fixed (64 Bit). Win 7 otherwise Well Worth the wait. Have bought the "College Special Win 7 Pro" Do I dare upgrade my XP? LOL (Have 30 Days).

Better Lower your memory to 4 gb and install 32 bit win 7.....64 bit systems always have some compatibility issues with both software and hardware.

Next time, research before saying that. I had the chkdsk problem with the rc also. No hardware problems here and i have 800GB of games and software installed. Some of it quite old. As for actual help... if it happens again... boot up and hit the f8 during boot after bios checks. Then select last known configuration.

The resulting Problem was I could not get into start-up as CHKDSK started every time. The root problem may have become evident to me. The Admin user account is corrupted from the upgrades and is causing additional problems. Now this maybe a factor with the CHKDSK or may not and may even be why Vista was such a Nightmare for me. I do hours of research (Vista caused that) and I do agree I don't need my frustration to show. Point well taken. I only have 163GB used but, over $40,000 in Programs, I need to work. I have had this worked on Professionally several times, to no avail. Why I am here and why I take Computer classes at College. I am researching Backups as I have Data that I cant loose (Backed-up in several places though) I think a clean install and reinstalling/restoring Programs and files etc. is called for and my next Adventure.
