Enabling Lync Audio and video conferecing

I am newbie to Lynch2010

WE have lync 2010 in our environment ..with three components     which looks like this

Lync-FE (front end)

Lync SQL DB

Lync archiving and monitoring

Our management is asking me if we can enable Audio and video conferencing for our internal users only.I would like to know what additional components will be required on the server end and on the client end ..what will the bandwidth requirements be ? since the users are spread across WAN links(128K)  ..

Also on the client side is multimedia kit required?

AV conferencing is enabled in the Lync topology when you setup the pool you need to have selected AV conferencing. Usually this is the default. If you disabled it during the install you will need to edit the topology and enable it. Once it is enabled the global conferencing policy will allow conferencing. You may wish to change the policy or add new ones to meet your requirements.

The 2010 page for the link you were sent is  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398781(v=ocs.14).aspx

On the client PC all you will need is a Lync certified headset or webcam.

For calculating the bandwidth you can do it manually from this table:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg413004(v=ocs.14).aspx

or download the bandwidth calculator spreadsheet:http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=19011

To use the bandwidth calculator correctly read the documentation that comes with it.

Hi,

Media Traffic Network Usage:

The media traffic bandwidth usage can be challenging to calculate because of the number of different variables, such as codec usage, resolution, and activity levels. The bandwidth usage is a function of the codec used and the activity of the stream, both of which vary between scenarios. The following table lists the audio codecs commonly used in Microsoft Lync Server 2010 communications software scenarios.

Audio Codec Bandwidth
