Enable transparency box disappeared
The first two that come to mind are Desktop Window Manager Session Manager and Themes. Try enabling both of those and then rebooting. Also, if they are dependent on any other services or have dependencies, be sure to enable those as well.Rich Prescott | Infrastructure Architect, Windows Engineer and PowerShell blogger | MCITP, MCTS, MCP Engineering Efficiency @Rich_Prescott Windows System Administration tool AD User Creation tool

Okay, I messed up and followed some stupid peoples advice on how to tweak and disabled transparency, now, my task bar it white and everything looks old. The main thing is when I go to personaization, there is no option to enable transparancy and aero themes are greyed out. I followed some advice on microsoft sites, did some enabling services and registry things, but it is still not there. I cannot even restore to an earlier time because it says a restore piint hasn't been set. I actually JUST upgraded to professional right before I did this. Also, it looks like I have XP now. Task bar is whitish grey and all that jazz So the problem is the "enable transparency" box is not there. Any help would be great.

You made changes to your system that are not recommended by Microsoft and now you come to a Microsoft forum and expect someone to tell you how to "fix" your unsantioned tweaks to your system? Are you really serious? If you are going to apply the tweaks posted by some fly-by-night hacker on the internet, why would you expect Microsoft to feel sorry for you and try to figure out how to fix your screw-up? The only suggestion I have for you is for you to wipe you hard drive clean and then re-install Windows 7! THERE IS NO SUPPORT HERE FOR PROBLEMS CAUSED BY UNAUTHORIZED TWEAKS!!!Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Jesus dude, Thanks for being so rude. All I did was Stop some services THATS IT. I buy all microsoft software, nothing pirated or anything, ever. so, why microsoft people cannot at least be kind enough to try and answer a question, I do not know. You are acting as if I came here asking how to get my counterfeited windows activated. Thanks for being so rude.

Hi Mike, Please compare your Services startmode settings against those listed on this page. That will give you an idea of what you may need to re-enable. I will report back. My task bar and all of that looks like XP. I initially unticked the box, so it was there yesterday, but once I did that it never came back

Also, if the advice you used was on a website, having a link to the website would help in backtracing your steps.Rich Prescott | Infrastructure Architect, Windows Engineer and PowerShell blogger | MCITP, MCTS, MCP Engineering Efficiency @Rich_Prescott Windows System Administration tool AD User Creation tool
