Embedded URLs
I cannot see embedded URLs for videos. All I get is a rectangular border with a small multi-colored box in the upper left corner. jpg images come through fine, youtube works fine, but when someone posts a video with an embedded URL I'm left out.

Blue Nevada, This is probably because there are always external codecs involved in displaying video, whereas YouTube is flash-based and images are rendered within the browser. I assume you are using Internet Explorer 8?-Alex

Depending on the type of video being embeddedyou will need different software on your computer. WMV files should work by default as support for those is built into Windows 7. Other video formats like Quicktime, however, will need other software installed. Do you know the filetype of the videos you are trying to play?-Nick

All I know is that a poster puts something in his post that presents me with that rectangular border described earlier and everyone else who posts to the thread thinks the video is hilarious.

I was using IE7 when I posted the question. Yesterday IE8 was downloaded to me when I agreed to a Microsoft update. So far I like IE8 - faster, better Find feature, a translation feature, etc but my problem with embedded links to videos is still present. No change there.I have both Windows Media play and Quicktime, both (re)loaded last week.

Blue Nevada, Can you link the exact thread to us, so that we can at least determine what format this video is meant to play in? Also, would you happen to be using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 8? The Flash Player is currently not supported in that browser.-Alex
