Email
As Windows 7 does not have an email program I downloaded Thunderbird. I would like to import my mail from the windows vista mail program but don't know how. Can this be done?

You could just download & use the new version of Windows Mail, it's part of the live suit of applications (Messenger, Mail, Writer, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, etc): http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger&wa=wsignin1.0-Ken | http://ken.wagnerfamily.co.uk

HiAlready tried it and it is a so STUPID and messy program' and we are being 'forced' at gun-point !============Anyone know how to re-instate WINDOWS MAIL [not Live Mail] before I switch to Linux (which I already was re-tryaling) ?I have downloaded Thunderbird but it is very messy to import everything [tried https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2474] - especially from Windows BLOOMING LIVE mailI am very tired and I have already wasted many hours just to upgrade my Laptop and then I found this HUGE MISTAKE by Microsoft and I am not surprised 'many' are using Thunderbird already!I have to decide soon what to do or it will mess my Business - I live with Windows Mail {!} - which is already struggling!Thank you for your understandingVERY ANGRY (it is now about 24 hours!) - ruining my health and I may even sue Microsoft - I am not joking - there a thing called Welfare and they cannot mess with it!I wonder how many small businesses are swearing at Microsoft at this point in time!ADDITION: Also, I would not trust Microsoft with my 'business' emails ! I would not trust 'any' webmail!

Unfortunately I already tried all listed there and the main problem really is that every time I try to Properties/owner permissions - ALL is greyed out!... and when I run Windows Mail I can see it in the Windows Task Manager - so, Windows 7 is 'preventing' me to use it!I am going mad.I own a licence to use Windows 7, but I do not own my computer anymore - the CIA owns it now!Is that not illegal? I cannot work anymore. Is there any Microsoft representative that has the courage to reply and actually help? [which is obviously reading, but not participatiung for ibvious reasons!] I feel hijacked, kidknapped, detained and I am innocent! Don,t you have that feel?

HiYes, downloaded installed and do not like it.What is missing is Windows Mail the way is sweated to set!I also do not like the layout - it looks and feels like a cemetery.I do not like the separate folders each with its own Inbox etc.I do not like it... and the biggest mistake is that Microsoft keeps spending money on the looks, a-la-Miami-CSI style. Wonderful looks and loads of unuseful stuff and not much brain in it. Plus the fact you do not own the computer anymore and the fact they are trying to 'further' enter in our lives!...and believe me, I am not one of those persons 'afraid' to change - if it is worth the pain!I almost do a change every month or so in my work - when it is worth it and 'I' choose it.

I did not ask you, I am sure I will find a way [I usually do] - even if I have to break down windows in bits!I generally fix my 'customer's' computers' 'windows created ones' and I may not be a Microsoft Certified or a developer (by choice), but I have been in computing and Electronics [not just replacing boards as it happens these days! but at component level] and I have seen it of all colours. My negativity comes from 2 main reasons, experience since Sir Clive's Spectrum in 1976 and from the fact I wasted an entire Sunday trying to work out what was going on (I did not know the email progran was not there until I started it this morning!) instead of actually 'work' to put bread on the table for my family and stay with them as well. No, I had to waste today just trying to find out what was going on.No, I will start to fix it all.=addition == Probably, you will need to take ownership away from TrustedInstaller. I'm sure somebody more enthusiastic than me will be glad to walk you through that.============It did not work for me and that is why I will take the - let's do it myself approach and then divulge it to my customers, some of which already switched to Linux!

By the wayIf TakeOwnership function does not work, re-boot in SAFE mode and it will and I bet the fact it does not work in certain cases it may be due to 'which' version of Windows 7 you have.In my case Home Premium !It now works and deletes whatever you need to delete and it has taken 10 minutes to work it out. Also there are other ways to try and do this by using CMD ...
