Elevate via code?
We have an application that is an add-on to another application. While the child app is being installed, it must edit some files belonging to the parent. We wrote an .exe in VB 2005 that performs this action. It has been in production on XP for some months and works fine. It will not, of course, run on Vista with UAC on.Is there an SDK function that provides programatic elevation? I've searched MSDN but can't find any such function.Help.

I had read those pages. Note that they describe actions an administrator can do. I am asking for actions a programmer can do. The .exe is run by the installer. Asking our customers to right click an .exe file is not something we're likely to do.

Hi,
This issue seems like a development issue, it may out of our support scale. So I would like to suggest that go to MSDN forum which would be the best resource for your question:
