Either Lync 2013 or Skype for Business crashed right after making audio call/join meeting

Hi,

I just installed Skype for Business recently. I can use it well for sending IM but not for making audio call / join a meeting.

Each time the others accept the call or join the meeting, my skype just not responding. This also happens before when I use Lync 2013 and still not solved until now.

My laptop is Dell XPS 15, running Windows 8.1 and the office version is 2010.

Been trying the steps from other forums like re-installing the lync/skype, restart the laptop, re-installing the driver but still the same.

The error message from event viewer like this:

The program lync.exe version 15.0.4719.1000 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Hi,

Did you solve the issue with the help of the Holger Bunkradt provided above?

Did you update driver to the latest version already? If yes, please also try to rollback them and install the drivers to the default drivers which Windows applied.

Please also try to repair Office and then test the issue again.

Hi,

The Windows Update has been done and everything is already up-to-date. Been repairing Office also and all audio devices is up-to-date (I cannot roll back the drivers).

But, the problem still there. Each time I join meeting and use Skype audio, it freeze right away. Same thing also happen when calling others.

Let me know if you need me to do anything else.

Cheers,

Marry

Hi,

Base on my understanding, sometimes, if the issue cause by the drivers, the solution is to rollback to the default driver. So, if possible, I suggest that you rollback to have a test.

Hi,

I have the same issue. Works fine for video but as soon as I join with audio it hangs. If you're going to suggest rolling back a driver as a solution perhaps you could state which driver and to which version rather than making vague comments which provide no help.

That is very difficult to say which driver or file has to replaced.

As long I can say the SFB Client works fine with most of the client hardware from my experience.

I had 2 Weeks ago a customer with the same problem, that the SFB client crashed with voice calls.

We have open a MS ticket and found that another software has replace on dll from the default office 2013 installation which cause this problem.
