Yes it is preinstalled on 7 and vista. To test it it throughly i installed wet on xp and the transfer went ok.It also worked ok on preinstalled vista to pre installed vista and preinstalled vista to installed xp.The problam windows 7 wont find the pc on the other end of the cable.I tried on 2 different pc's useing 7 and tried connecting to vista and xp, neither of win 7 pc's will find whatever pc is on the other end of the cable.

Raymp - I think you may have misunderstood what Ronnie was saying. You really need to run the WET software that came on the Win 7 DVD - on ALL machines - including the Vista box. DO NOT use the version of WET installed on the Vista box - it's (obviously) not compatible.WET is available on the installation DVD - insert it into the Vista box, locate it in Windows Explorer and run it from the DVD.

Good point.Problam is: the 7 version i have is x64 i need a x86 version.Anywhere i can get it without downloading 7 again?

raymp - I could be wrong - but I believe the app in question is 32 bit already... There doesn't seem to be any mention of any particular version for 32 or 64 bits. Other than that... there is an older version - for XP to Vista - available for download. But not the one for Win 7 - yet. It'll likely be availble for download once Win 7 is released.

I tried to install it off the x64 7 disc and it told me the application cannot be installed on x32 bit.

raymp - In that case, about the only thing you can do (for the moment) is download the 32 bit RC. Either that or find someone who already did and can loan you or burn you a copy of the 32 bit DVD.

HiLike Wolfie said, the architecture of the destination (New)computer does not matter. The only exceptionconcerning the architecture is that you cannot transfer files and settings From a 64-Bit system To a 32-Bit system. If you are trying to transfer files from an old XP or Vista system to a Windows 7 system, you must Start the process from the Windows 7 system. When you start WET on the Windows 7 system, the wizard will guide you through creating the WETinstallation file for theold computer. Take that file and install/run it on the old computer. Here is a link where you can find the Step-by-Step: Windows 7 Upgrade and Migrationinstructions for all of the supported WET scenarios.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hi Ronnie,Thanks for the input, but you are wrong.I have successfully transfered with WET 20 gig from xp sp2 to vista premium x64. Hi raympI think you misunderstood my post. There are no restrictions when using WET to move to a x64 bit system. The only scenario that is not supported is when moving from 64-Bit to 32-Bit.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
