EWS not Deployed - Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients

Hi there,

I know this EWS issue has been around for a long time but I am baffled as to the failing of my setup to show a working EWS with both 2010 and 2013 clients.  I get the EWS not Deployed message when opening either client.  This doesn't affect day to day running but on mobile clients (iPad) a message is displayed on screen about Exchange Web Services being unavailable and I would love to fix this.

Forgive me filling in a lot of info but I am convinced there is something different about the setup I am facing :

-Lync 2013 Standard Server using pinpoint DNS (SIP domain is test.co.uk, AD domain is xtest.co.uk)
-Exchange 2010 CAS Array (two CAS hosts behind array)
-Mix of Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients (CU updates applied)
-Internal CA issued (which needs to be installed onto the iPad for it to accept the connection to Lync)
-No reverse proxy is configured
-OWA works internally but is not published to the internet (this is due to client security considerations which may be important for finding the resolve to this problem)
-No autodiscover SRV record exists - my understanding is that the Lync clients don't need the SRV record if the lyncdiscover and lyncdiscoverinternal DNS entries have been configured - although this is a little confusing as EWS refers to an Exchange service, not a Lync service
-When running get-organizationconfig in exchange PS - i get a blank entry next to 'EWS Enabled'  (is this enabled or not - autodiscover checks within Outlook 2010 show success and report back the expected EWS URL - https:\\exchangesrv1.xtest.co.uk\EWS\Exchange.asmx

Where am I going wrong here - Is there a standalone config for EWS when in tandem with Lync or are the default services good for Lync 2013 ans 2010 and I need to look elsewhere for the problem?

Any clues/pointers will be appreciated!

Hi,there,

Did you configure DNS autodiscover record for Exchange server? For Lync and Exchange integration,Lync 2010 client utlize EWS service to access Exchange features like Outlook calendar, present status and download ABS file etc.

Here are some useful posts for your reference, hope these can calrify your question.

Hi Sharon,

I have an DNS A record for 'autodiscover' pointing to my CAS array IP address.  I haven't set up any CNAME records.  Because we have pinpoint DNS due to the differing SIP domain and AD domain I understand this is the preferred method.

What really puzzles me is that the EWS addresses exist on both CAS servers in the format https://EWS/Exchange.asmx and I can browse to them in a webpage.  So the settings look active although Lync can't find them

Correction to the above - EWS address is https://FQDN of CAS/EWS/Exchange.asmx

All

This has been solved.  The problem was related not on the Lync side but on the Exchange side.  Three weeks previously the site had work done on their two CAS boxes.  The certificate assigned to both did not include the autodiscover entry for both xtest.co.uk and test.co.uk (Outlook client was working fine due to SCP lookup of Exchange server info).

Certificate on both CAS boxes was replaced with one containing SAN info and all is good with EWS

How do i create a certificate for Exchange 2010? Can you please specify the steps?
