I installed Window 8 a few weeks ago to integrate with my Touch ELO in my Kitchen.

Everything works, except that even after calibration after calibration, the scroll bar at the bottom is not tall enough to pick up my finger. I know some will say the ELO sucks, but I have a sunk investment in it and would love to get it to work.

I have done a few regedits to increase the scroll heigth and width, but those settings seem to only apply to applications, not the tablet frontend.

So I need help on two fronts.

1) Does anyone know away to increase the width of the scroll bars on the tablet screen?
2) When I put my finger to the touch screen it does a mouse click and movement. I just want the mouse to move, not click unless I specificaly lift my finger and click something. Amy movement of my finger is the equivilent of holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse.

I do have the latest ELO drivers installed (Win 7).

I experience a similar problem, when trying to swipe from the left, right, top or bottom. I'm using an Acer touch screen, that has a border around the screen, which makes it impossible to swipe from the edge in. Instead, I'm trying to put my finger as close to the edge as possible and swipe in from there.

Unfortunately, the swipe width seems to be very narrow, making it very difficult to activate the swipe functionality, so I'm looking for a way to increase the "swipe detection zone". 

I'm sure everyone who has a non-tablet touchscreen will experience issues similar to these.

Why are you emulating the mouse cursor instead of using built in touchscreen support?

Base on my research, Im afraid theres no method to change the edge of charm bar on touch screen. Thats seems by design.

I have the exact same situation.  What I have done with pretty good success is just calibrate the touch where it is offset by a 1/2 finger.  That is just enough to be able to reach all of the hotspots of windows 8.  It takes a little training; however, it is very usable.  Unfortunately, there is no multi-touch.  But hey.. it works.

Also, I have installed logmein on the computer and can control it from another PC.  And that made all the difference in the world.  Now I just leave the metro interface up in the Kitchen.  And I do admin from my laptop... wherever.

That tells you your problem.  You need a pen.  If you had real Touch support you would not see a scrollbar; you would just swipe your finger anywhere.

What does System Properties show you for Pen and Touch?   Press Win-Pause as a quick way to see that.

That's a different issue.   You're talking about the bezel, referred to by Jerry Koh in his video in his Swipe from the edge example, at 1:47

So you may have better results using a pen too.   No swiping, just corner "hotspots" to try.   In fact, though, using my pen's right-click button I can raise the various hidden objects by using it in the same location where I might try a swipe  with the tip of my finger.   But even that is problematic and I usually end up getting right-clicks sensed by Desktop objects.   YMMV.   There is supposedly a way of decreasing the Desktop size and centering it (e.g. a registry hack) so that such right-clicks by the pen at least get sensed at a point outside the Desktop but I have not found the details of the procedure yet.

Does your finger raise a scrollbar too or can you do a pan with it?  (The OP's issue.)

Big Ray,

Step 1: Download the multi-touch driver from Elo's website (http://www.elotouch.com/Support/Downloads/dnld.asp). Install the software and Launch EloConfig from the desktop. 

Step 2: Calibrate Touch Screens...
You need to precisely calibrate your Elo monitor to ensure accuracy. Choose accept when you are satisfied with your results.

Step 3: Touch Screen Properties...
Make sure the information on this screen is correct. 

Step 4: Cursor Edge Acceleration
Launch this from Touch Screen Properties... and choose Select Defaults to enable CEA. Set all edge positions to ON and set their values to around 60. Choose Medium as the speed and choose Apply and then Close to return.

Step 5: Test
Test for accuracy. Swipe from any of the edges to make sure you no have edge gestures.
