EFS Assistant for Windows 7?
Anyone know if Microsoft has any plans to update EFS Assistant for Windows 7? The current version 1.0 included in the "Data Encryption Toolkit for Mobile PCs" was designed for XP and Vista. It doesn't install on Windows 7 without some manual finagling, and its "Default Green" and "Default Red" lists don't correspond to the new default folders in the %UserProfile% path of Windows 7. For example, the "Default Green" list of folders includes %UserProfile%\Documents, which would encrypt the user's [My] Documents folder. In XP, that would also include [My] Music, [My] Pictures, and [My] Videos. But W7 separates those 3 folders from the Documents folder path, which means that they are not included in EFS Assistant's "Default Green" list any more. Now that can be mitigated easily by using the "Folders to encrypt" policy in the EFS Assistant GPO (EFSAssistant.admx, which works on W7) to specify %UserProfile%\Music, %UserProfile%\Pictures, and %UserProfile%\Videos. So that's not really a problem, per se: I'm just wondering, more generally, if EFS Assistant is going to be updated for Windows 7, so that such measures aren't necessary, and to see if any new features are going to be added. Thanks in advance for any responses: I do appreciate it!

This would have that have been available before the release of Windows 7 last year. This was not so, I have to tell you, that will not be compatible with Windows 7. Anyway I think that that question you should do it themselves http://efsassistant.codeplex.com/
