EAP problem at wireless connections____/Bob
I have a problem with settings with Intel 4965AG wireless adapter with Windows 7. Receive a "Skipping: EAP method DLL path validation failed. Error: typeId = 88, authorId = 0, vendorId = 0, vendorType = 0" in Event Viewer. Tried a lot of different drivers, both Microsofts and Intel. Using a Lenovo T61.

Hi, Is there any error message when trying to connect the Wireless network with WPA encryption or other more secure connection? Or just only the Event log error? This issue can occur by incompatible driver or third party hardware. I suggest you perform the following steps. 1. Uninstall the current driver in Device Manager and then reinstall it in Compatibility Mode. 2. Refer to the following article to configure a Wireless network. Setting up a home network If the issue still occurs, please upload the Event log to the Skydrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ). Collect Event log ========================= a. Click "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. b. Right click on "Application" on the left frame, choose "Save Log file As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. c. Right click on "System", with the same method, save it as "sys". d. Locate the two saved log files on the Desktop and upload them. Thanks, Novak

Hey I had the same thing happen to me. I tried the whole driver tricks, bought a USB network card, went to the "tech" guys at my university, and nothing helped. I couldn't log on to my campus network. I couldn't even manually add a network with WPA2 enterprise. Here's what happened: Brief description: I ended up using an easy transfer cable from my old laptop running vista 32 bit to my new laptop running windows 7 64 bit. Also, on my old laptop I had downloaded symantec anti-virus, but decided to change to windows security essentials for my new one. These three events happening caused a problem in the registry. If this sounds familiar, here's a fix for you if you haven't done it already....and for anyone else who is having this same problem. Go to Computer > OS (C:) > windows type in the search box in the upper right corner: regedit or just scroll down, find it, and open it. a dialog box will show up saying blah blah blah hit the yes button Now there are a bunch of folders you need to navigate through them by clicking HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RasMan\PPP\EAP In the last folder labeled EAP there should be some more folders with some numbers in them. - Here's a quick tip. Right click those folders and export them to your documents or desktop and back them up in case something happens and you mess it up. The one's you don't want there are the the ones that say symantec when you click them. delete the symantec ones You'll need to replace these regkeys that your deleting with new ones. The easiest way is to have a friend (running windows 7 and who can connect to the network your trying to access) navigate to the same place in their registry and export the files they find under EAP in the Registry Editor (13, 25, 26 are the ones you want) on to a USB drive where you can then import them into your registry from the file menu. Hope that helps!
