instead of enabling items one by one what we can do iswhen the error comes up use task manager to find out the process name associated.use autoruns from micrososft sysinternals to find out its source.Vibhor Agarwal

I think there is infection/malware in ur PC.I recommend not using Windows firewall. Use antivirus s/w product that has inbuilt firewall i.e a an antivirus with Internet Security such asESET Smart Security.Ultimate solution for infection cleanup is -1. Use DrWeb CureIt Scanner (free)(25MB) - a simple utility to remove infections. portable, no install, no need to uninstall ur antivirus as it is a scanner only.2. Use IOBit security 360 portable - search for portable version, scan and remove malwaresDrWeb will take care of viruses, spywares, backdoors, trojansIoBit security 360 will remove all malwares, adwaresThese two will clean ur PC ocmpletely with no infection left. And stop using free avira.I fu frequently use pen drives from diff sources then disable autorun from gpedit.msc, google it for detailsPLEASE VOTE IF HELPFUL any of the postVibhor Agarwal

ok i will clear.the message u r getting must belong to process( running .exe)i want u to find out the exe which is displaying this messageu can use the followin utilities to find out the exe - 1. task manager - ctll +alt +del 2. procexp from ms sysinternals (google it to download) 3. Spy or Spy++ (comes with .net sdk) - this works by dragging a crossghair from spy to the error message window u can use following to correct after finding the source by removing it sdtartup entry 1. autoruns (ms sysinternals)(google it to download) 2. msconfig (type in run prompt)_________________________________________________________________my second post was to try correct the problemm by finding some viruses on pc.DrWeB Antivirus is a product but Drweb Cureit is a free scanner which is not an antivrus but a utility to remove viruses/trojans/worms. Its free, portable(no-install), just dwnld and run.same is the case with iobit security 360 portablerunnuing these two ll make it clear that the problem is virus related or not.___________________________________________________________________try bothhad ur pc been at my desk it wud hav been corrected till nowVibhor Agarwal

To date I have downloaded all the suggested antivirus and performance software and run scans with each, except Drweb, I will try that one again this morning. The info above about procexp, I have found the website but I don't fully understand the instructions. Can you please be a little more detailed for a amateur computer guy? Thanks.
July 27th, 2010 3:10pm

I don't know why you shut down while you knew the scanner is scanning? You should close the scanner then Shut Down, you can't shut the door on your fingers!!Run it in safe mode and monitor from time to time as it will ask your permession what to do with any infection found. nass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk

When I am running Drweb, I cannot do anything with it, the hourglass icon is on the website and there is no indication in Windows Task Manager that the program is running. The program has never asked what to do with infected files, I cannot shut the program down, except by doing a restart of the computer. It was running for just over 2 hours this morning. Not sure how to run it in Safe Mode.

sometimes when drweb is scanning and u cancel the scan it stops reponding. The scan time depends on the no of files on ur pc and the type of files. It scans all the archive files, bundled exe, setup exes thoroughly. Give it 3-4 hrs.Vibhor Agarwal
