Dual monitor problems - cant run a game on 1 screen and have other content on the 2nd
Hi all, I just upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. Totally clean install. Indeed, I even got another HD drive and swapped my XP HD out so I can guarantee a totally clean install. My problem is this. I have 2 displays connected to my ATI 4670. They run as dual displays, my desktop stretched between them. In XP, I can play a game on screen 1 (a 22 inch CRT Iyama) and view something on screen 2 (a 19inch Dell). For example, an internet radio station that gives track listings, a movie, an internet page, or even streamed media. It's ace.Admittedlyif you move your mouse to screen 2 it has apanicattack (shuts down screen 1 to desktop), but I have learned to cope with that. The problem is that now I have Windows 7 I cannot run a game in screen 1 without it blinking and flashing andminimizingout eventually. Well, to be exact I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to get to that stage. I can run a game if I switch off the 2nd monitor fine. Trouble is thats more of a workaround than a fix. Is there any way I can fix this? I had a similar problem in Vista. So much so in fact that I sold my copy of Vista to a friend after failing to find a fix online or offline. It's not my hardware causing this either. I tried Vista over 2 years ago, and since then all my hardware has been changed in my system. I'm now on a Dual core 6600, 4GB ram, and a Gigabyte MB of that era (can't find the exact model - it has only 1 PCI-E slot and no on board graphics that would conflict). Windows 7 is very good otherwise. Does anyone have any ideas?

It should be driver issue. The driver may be not designed with WDDM 1.0 or 1.1, so just regular functions work in Windows Vista and Windows 7. You may download and install the latest driver. If the issue persists, we may need to wait for the manufacturer to release new drivers.Arthur Xie - MSFT
