Dual boot with Windows 7 RC for different applications?
Hello there, I would like to set up two different Windows 7RC64bitoperating systems for different applications on my laptop. HD partitioned as follows: TS: Traktor System- This would be soley for the use of Native Instruments Traktor Pro digital DJing software. It would have no internet connection, no antivirus software (run periodic checks), all non essential devices would be disabled and the os would be tweaked to use least possible resources. Ultra stability is the goal. C: System- I could run this with all 'bells and whistles'. Internet and AV protection. UpdatesforTS:drive and contained apps could be saved onto.............D: Data partition- Music files etc...Is this a good idea? Also, are there any tutorials/guides on configuring Win 7 for absolute minimum resource drain? or any geared specifically towards tuning for digital audio apps? All opinions and suggestions welcome! Thank you.

I've got the Win7 beta and the Win7 RC on my system and they both work just fine. As for "tweaking", that's gonna take a lot of research on your part. I'd start with searching the web for"Black Viper".- John

Win 7 is already "ultra stable" as it is. I would concentrate on getting a machine/motherboard that can handle as much RAM as possible. 8 GB is common these days, butthere are already motherboards that can take16 GB. Disabling services in Windows doesn't save you much, maybe 10 or 20 megs.
