Dual boot issue with Win 7 Pro using second SSD in cd caddy
I have built two drives one XP (main drive in dell laptop) and Win 7 Pro in a SSD drive in a CD Caddy. After moving this drive to another machine of the same make, model and lot, I start the machine and use F12 to choose the boot drive. It allows me to pick the SSD drive. It will boot to Win 7 and I see the logon icon. However, the internal keyboard and mouse will not function. Plugging in an external keyboard and mouse does not change the result. I have replicated this issue across a few different laptops, all with the same issue. Starting with a fresh SSD drive, I can login once, with the same F12 approach. However, after a few subsequent logins the drive either begins not to recognize the keyboard and mouse or crashes completely and you only get a black screen and rotating cursor. All help greatly appreciated, Thanks

Windows cannot be moved from machine to machine like that. My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT Remote Assistance is available for a fee. Hi, As Vegan says, you can not move the Windows from a machine to another machine, this is not legitimate. Meantime, there are also a lot of elements can cause this issue. According to your description, I suspect that it may be caused by the SSD control chipset driver. Thanks. I have enough licenses for so I am not trying to use an illegal copy. It worked just fine when I did the same thing with XP and XP. Is this something new in Win 7. Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob, OK, this may be caused by the SSD control chipset driver. Have you checked it? Meantime, when you finish moving the machine, please re-activate the Windows 7. But I still do not recommend to do like this.
