Due to several reasons, most of which pertain to Windows Store app compatibility, I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1. However, I tested the preview beforehand to make sure everything driver-wise was compatible... Everything is fine, except for my Atheros AR9285 wifi adapter. For reasons a bit to complicated to explain in this paragraph, I am using the Windows XP driver for this adapter. Please don't say the driver is too old, and that's why it's not working, because I am well versed in drivers and versioning. BTW, this driver works perfectly in Windows 8. Just NOT in Windows 8.1. Any help would be appreciated as I am currently ripping my hair out.

Yes, I check at compatibility center for Windows 8.1

Double check with Wifi card manufactured or your PC manufactured regarding this information

You have another option like using 3rd party USB Wifi adapter if you really need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 (do more research regarding which hardware compatible with Windows 8.1)

This is very interesting, as it seems now (after more research) that Windows 8.1 does in fact provide working drivers for ar9285... just not drivers that allow mac spoofing. (I have found Windows XP drivers to be the only ones allowing this), so I was using them in 8 with no issue... I guess this means yet more research. Thanks for your help.
