Driver Problems - and unable to system restore

Hello!

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo 20236 (x64) laptop, which until a few days ago, was running perfectly (and very quietly!)

However, after installing the on disc software that came with a 360 wireless receiver http://www.amazon.co.uk/747400-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Microsoft/dp/B0076GYM50/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1428828583&sr=8-4&keywords=wireless+360+controller+pc

My computer encountered numerous problems (including a case of IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL, and numerous driver malfunctions) so I read the review page for the product, which is essentially a warning not to use on disc software and how to install the necessary drivers from Microsoft.

After reading this, I uninstalled the wireless controller software (from the programs panel), and since then, my laptop has suffered no more IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL crashes (or any crashes). However display drivers have stopped working occasionally (which never happened before this) and the computer now runs noticeably slower and louder with 3.1 GB of the 5.9 GB memory in use at all time.

I tried to system restore to the 4th of April, but I just got a "Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored" screen for half a day, before performing a hard reset.

I was running full avast before this happened, and malware bytes since. I do not have a Windows CD.

Will running a working system restore help fix this? If so, can someone please help me do that?

Many thanks.
