Drag and Drop Not Working Well
Has this been discussed in another thread? When I try to drag an item, doesn't matter what program or what item, e.g., an email, document, etc., I can only drag it a short way, or not at all, before the the mouse "slips" off. This has the disastrous consequence of sometimes dragging the wrong item to folders unknown.Thank you.

What type of mouse device are you using, wireless, wired, trackball, or...?One thing you can try is to right click the file you are trying to move and select Cut from the popup menu, and then Paste the file in the target folder. Or, you can select Copy and then Paste the file, if you don't want to actually move the file.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

Thank you, Ronnie. Didn't want to post details if this had been discussed elsewhere. Some programs do not allow for a copy/cut/paste, so dragging is the only allowed method.Logitech wireless, MX600nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX Pre-release WDDM 1.1Dell, XPS 600 duo core pentium 3.2

I have a few programs that dont appear to give copy and paste, as well, but so far i've found that (Ctrl+C) Copy, (Ctrl+X) Cut, and (Ctrl+V) Paste all work well.

I would try another mouse (preferably a wired one) to see if it's the mouse/mouse software that's causing the problem.- John

Yes, it's not unusual for the microswitch under the mouse button to go "noisy" and generate false clicks or drops. Microsoft mice seem more prone to this than Logitech, for some reason, although I've had to change the microswitch on both makes in my time.I would try a different mouse before going any further.
