Download does not complete, stays at 99% completion
My problem: When I try to download anything the process starts and continues until it reaches 99% completion, at which point the process comes to a screeching halt, and no matter how long I wait it never reaches 100% completion. Can anyone help?Alhondo Original title: 99% completion

HiAlhondo, Before we troubleshoot the issue we need some more information about the issue. Since when are you facing this issue?Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue started? Are you using Internet Explorer to download the files? What location are you trying to save the downloaded file?Do you have any security software installed on the computer? However, you may try to follow the steps below and check if it helps. Method 1 Try saving the download file on a different location (like on Desktop) and check if the download completes. Method 2 You may try to boot your computer in safe mode with networking and check if you can download the files completely and post back the result. To boot to the desktop in safe mode with networking keep tapping F8 key during restart. Once you see the option to boot in safe mode with networking select it and press enter. Method 3 You may also try to temporarily disable security software from the computer and try to download and check if it completes. If you are download the files completely, you may contact the security software Manufacturer and check if you need to change any settings. Later re-enable the security software. Hope this helps. Please provide additional information about your system:What is your system make and model? What is your XP Version and Service Pack?Describe your current antivirus and anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc.Are any of your antivirus tools set up to automatically scan downloaded files? Is the scanning of downloaded files something new that has been added to your system? If you are downloading with an Internet browser, which browser are you using and what version (e.g. IE7, IE8, Firefox)? If you have more than one browser installed, do you have the problem with all installed browsers? If downloading was working at some point, did you install some new AV software and then did downloading stop working? If downloading was working at some point, did you do any kind of Internet browser updates and then did downloading stop working?Have you installed or updated any browser add ons since downloading last worked? When you download a file, most browsers will save the downloaded file in a temporary location until the download is complete, then the downloaded file will be moved to the folder specified in the browser configuration settings (this is configurable of course). If the download is "complete" and the browser can't move the file from some reason (like permissions), it may hang.Sometimes clearing the temporary Internet files using Disk Cleanup, or your built in Browser tool menu will resolve the issue. If you are using Internet Explorer, you can consider resetting your IE settings, but you should read the IE Help about what effect that will have before you decide to reset your IE (or decide to to reset your IE). Don't guess what the problem might be - figure it out and fix it. I need YOUR votes and points for helpful replies and Propose as Answers. I am saving up for a pony!
