DOS does not handle longer file namnes than 8+3 characters so i'm afraid that is the issue here.

I asked this question previously on another version of this forum and only got laughed at. So Please, I would really like an answer to my question and possibly a solution. Here it goes again... The DOS emulator command DIR returns a strange result. Under a directory, when typing: dir 00033*.gw All the wanted files (61) appear but 4 more also appear (see the 4 last files below). Why? Could it be due to the fact that the emulator looks at the short names of those files? When typing: dir 00033*.gw /X the last 4 files contain 00033 in their short names. For example, the short name of 000540071.gw is 00033F~1.gw Can I change or modify the way I write the DIR command so that it looks at the long name only? Or is there a way to modify the way the commands work? Thank you ... 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330046.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330047.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330048.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 338 000330049.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330050.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330051.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330052.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 338 000330053.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330054.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330055.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330056.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330057.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330058.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330059.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330060.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 335 000330061.gw 2012-08-16 17:09 1 336 000370281.gw 2012-08-16 17:05 1 335 000230059.gw 2012-08-16 17:06 1 337 000250410.gw 2012-08-16 17:13 1 335 000540071.gw 65 fichier(s) 86 781 octets 0 Rp(s) 263 342 796 800 octets libres
