What are the minimum requirements for domains (domain controllers) if I want to join a windows 8.1 machine?
I found general windows 8.1 System requirements - but not for the infrastructure behind :(

I don't think there really are any, as long as you are running AD an not still on an NT domain, you should be fine.
We have had no issues with a very mixed environment, which is WS2003 and FFL/DFL is WS2003.
