Short answer: No. Long answer: You can use VirtualBox or VMware to run a virtual machine on the home versions of Win7, you'll have to supply your own OS though - you can't download Microsoft's Virtual XP image without Pro, Ultimate or Enterprise.

Hi Rob, your statement is WRONG ! Windows 7 Home Premium can run Virtual PC. It has the license setting enabled: < sl:policyInt name =" VirtualPC-licensing-Enabled " attributes =" override-only " > 1 </ sl:policyInt > only Prof, Enterprise and Ultimate have the license setting enabled to run the XP Mode, what you are referring to: < sl:policyInt name =" VirtualXP-licensing-Enabled " attributes =" override-only " > 1 </ sl:policyInt > @bassador: YES, you can use VirtualPC, but NOT the XPMode. @Carey, don't mark statements too fast as anwsers! best gegards André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Sure, as I posted Home Premium allows you to run Virtual PC. Carey and Bob, simply don't know the difference between the program and the XP Mode. "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

@grits It seems the Virtual PC home site is configured mainly for those interested in Windows XP mode. If you want to download Windows Virtual PC only, you have to cheat a bit: Select "Professional" or "Ultimate" (and your language) when asked about your system, then you are given three different choices for downloading - XP mode, Virtual PC and Update for XP mode. Select "Virtual PC", pass a Genuine Validation check and you can download and install it (the EULA states it is licensed for Windows 7 Home Premium, too - the download link that you get is the same as your second one). You must need the system requirements to run it, though (1 GHz CPU needed, 2 GB RAM recommendable, HAV support or non-HAV update installation needed). As you can see here http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/03/19/windows-virtual-pc-everywhere.aspx, you can also run other operating systems than the officially supported.
