Does Norton 360 work with Windows 7?
I am using Norton 360 Version 2.5.0.5, and currently have my subscription active through November of 2009. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 RC about a week ago, Norton 360 reports that everything is turned on and 'protecting me' - AV, Spyware protection, firewall, Identity Protection, etc., however the Windows 7 Action Center has always reported that I do not have any Spyware/Malware protection, AV protection, or a firewall - All things that I have through Norton 360, and are all currently running just fine. Does my version of Norton simply just not work with Windows 7?

The version of Nortonyou are using uses a file "format" to communicate with windows 7 that is no longer recognized. Norton works OK, but Windows doesn't know it. The last version works better I've heard; (can't tell from own experience, staying as far away as possible from Norton).

I think this an issue with Norton 360. They have to use the API which is provided by Windows to notify the Action Center that everything is working correctly. I think you'll have to wait for an update of Norton 360 which support this functionality.

Hmmm. I've always had a great experience with Norton since I started using it a few years ago. We use McAfee at my work, and have noticed an abundance of problems that I don't care to deal with at home. As far as the incompatibility with Windows 7, I think Captain007 is probably right. I know Norton 360 is currently on v3 and so Symantec will likely make the necessary API upgrades for Win7 in their most current version as opposed to the older rev that I'm running. I'll likely just have to deal with the reporting problem until I upgrade my N360 version when my subscription runs up in a few months (which really is fine with me, I don't really have a problem with a small reporting problem with my AV - I'll just chalk it up to a typical snafu you might experience while using a beta OS).
