Displaying office metadata in explorer is slow on XP
Hi,I have a network with both XP and Win 7 desktops/laptops. They access a file server which has some word processor files on it. The win7 machines are new to the network, the XP machines have had office 2010 installed on them recently. We normally display a couple of columns of metadata, particularly for spreadsheet and word processor documents in the file manager (windows explorer)The win7 machines seem to be able to display the metadata reasonably quickly, but the XP machines are incredibly slow (10 second wait, and then half a second per file)Can anyone explain why this is so? What can be do to speed them up.It happens on a number (maybe all, have not checked yet) of the xp machines. They do not have any special/unusual software installed. The XP machines ran fine when they had Office2003 on them. Thanks for any info,1 person needs an answerI do too
